Join us to celebrate the opening of three new exhibitions!
The Newport Biennial, one of the Newport Art Museum’s most anticipated exhibitions, featuring artists from all over New England. This exciting juried exhibition is one of the Newport Art Museum’s longest standing traditions. For over 30 years, it has featured an array of works of art, showcasing fresh approaches to contemporary ideas in all media.
Call & Response 2022 is one of the Newport Art Museum’s most popular exhibitions, this year featuring artists Diane Barceló, Emily Belz, and On-Kyeong Seong. These contemporary regional artists were invited to plumb the Museum’s permanent collection and respond visually with their own original works. Come see what inspired them and their never before seen responses!
Also opening is Above/Below, curated by Museum Curatorial Assistant Megan Horn. This exhibition features works from the permanent collection that involve some visual trickery – the monumental appears to shrink, the minuscule becomes colossal, and unseen worlds right under our noses suddenly come to light. From bird’s-eye views to up close encounters with underwater creatures, the artists in “Above/Below” explore the micro and macro details and workings of the mysterious and elusive realms that hover overhead and are hidden beneath our feet.

Now for the FESTIVE part! We’re celebrating the artists with a little something special! Cupid is delivering his Valentine’s Day spirit a few days early at the Museum with Eye Spy… LOVE! in the galleries. Sharpen your eagle eyes with our art-inspired scavenger hunt, and add a delectable treat to your chocolate box with each successfully discovered hidden image. Perfect for families, friends, date night and all art lovers.
