Alton Stuckey: Jazz Portraits
January 9, 2024 - March 22, 2024
Museum School Mini-Exhibition
The Museum School Mini-Exhibition series aims to provide insight into the creative process by highlighting emerging contemporary and Outsider artists in a quarterly series of art exhibitions.
Alton Stuckey is a self-taught, Providence-based artist who specializes in portraits. His positive and uplifting works celebrate the diversity of his community, and reflect his concern for social issues. After his invitation to exhibit in Newport in a Museum School Mini-Exhibition, Stuckey chose to create an all-new series of portraits of black musicians who have performed at the Newport Jazz Festival. The Newport Art Museum School is honored to present the work of Alton Stuckey, and the unique series of drawings created for this exhibit.
