Watercolor Plein Air Workshop with Bill Lane
September 12, 2026 - September 12, 2026
1 sessions
Saturday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Teaching Artist:
Bill Lane
A watercolorist’s dream! Here’s your chance to paint plein air (outside) in
Newport, RI. This 1-day workshop will include a demo by Bill Lane, your
chance to paint any subject that interests you, then have a crit at the end of
the day.
Schedule of the Day: Bill will start his demo at 9:00 am at the Newport Art Museum and
should finish around 10:15-10:30. The students will then paint within the
nearby area and pick a scene that speaks to them. Bill will visit each student
throughout the day answering any questions and providing suggestions and
guidance. Around 3:15 pm students will gather with their pieces–finished or
not–for an informal crit. The crit usually lasts until 4:00ish depending on the
class size. Students should grab lunch on their own schedule.
Recommended for students with previous watercolor experience or those who have completed an introductory watercolor class.
