Art After Dark

Celebrate diversity in our Avant Garden!

August 8, 2019 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free to Bee

Craft projects ongoing 5-8pm
Storytimes at 5:30 pm & 6:30 pm

An enchanting garden is a feast for the senses – showy greenery, glorious flowers, intricate vines, bountiful fruit, delicate mosses, elegant grasses, and majestic trees – stunning, vibrant, and healthy thanks to its diversity. Cross-pollination ensures this abundance continues to evolve and thrive. Honor Mother Nature’s potent lesson at a festive, family-friendly, garden-themed celebration of diversity, inclusion, and self-acceptance, and imagine a world where people are Free to Bee.

Join us for Storytime with Drag Kings, Queens, and Friends, a lively pop-up story adventure for kids and adults with, you guessed it, drag performers and sparkly friends! Avant Gardens exhibiting artist Caleb Cole (aka Claude Kitten) and beloved performers Poise’n Envy (Miss Gay Worcester 2018) and Alli ShortforAllister will charm us with award-winning children’s books and stories focused on diversity and LGBTQIA+ themes.

And yes, festive dress is encouraged!

Storytime with Drag Kings, Queens, and Friends seeks to help children develop empathy, learn about gender diversity and difference, and encourage self-expression and tolerance.

Get crafty!

Create a bright flower-filled sun catcher, and design a beguiling flower hat or corsage pin!
