FAQs
What is the commission split?
70% of all sales generated will go directly to the artists. 30% of all sales are donated to the museum in support of its various functions and programs.
What information will I receive about my sales?
In late December, the Museum will mail each participating artist a letter that includes the total revenue generated from the sale, your total sales amount, and your check with your 70% commission.
How should I price my work?
Pricing of artwork is decided at the discretion of the artist. Items that sell well at our holiday marketplace are typically priced under $100. It is essential to price your work appropriately or it might not be purchased. The Museum reserves the right to decline artwork that is priced unrealistically or outside the scope of our sale. If you are new to pricing and selling your work and you’d like some guidance, you can reach out to our Education office at (401)619-7983.
How does it work if I’m submitting multiples?
If you are selling multiple of a single item, you may submit up to 30 total pieces. For example, you might have 10 unique clay bowls, 10 ornaments of one design, and 10 ornaments of a different design. We will use the same inventory number for each multiple.
Can I ship in my work?
All items for sale must be dropped off in person; we do not accept or mail back shipped items, and we are unable to store artwork that is not part of the sale.
What if I’m not able to make the drop-off or pick-up time?
Someone else may drop off or pickup your work on your behalf. Please ensure that they are familiar enough with your inventory so that they can answer questions our staff may have at intake.
Who bought my work?
Purchaser information will not be collected, but you may provide us with business cards that we can share in case anyone is interested in contacting you directly.
Do I need a RI sales tax number?
No. Since all sales are going through the Museum, artists are not required to have a sales tax number.
Where is the inventory form?
Accepted artists will be sent the link to the online inventory form via email.
