"I Am a Well Being" Art Exhibition
A youth perspective on mental health and wellness
The Newport Art Museum and Newport County Prevention Coalition invite young Newport County residents aged 5-17 to create original artwork inspired by the connection between art making and positive mental health. The exhibition theme “I Am A Well Being” speaks to the need for self care and the role the arts can play in supporting young people’s healthy minds. This captivating show seeks to celebrate the creativity, resilience and wellness strategies of our talented young people. Works will be exhibited at the Newport Art Museum School from October 28 – November 30, 2023 during Museum School Hours:
We invite all Newport County children to share their unique perspective through original pieces of art. This thought-provoking exhibition was created to educate, enlighten and provide a greater understanding of these challenging and complex issues. We believe it’s important to hear the experiences and perspectives of our youth, as they navigate the obstacles that confront them.
Young people are invited to participate by expressing visually what brings them joy and makes them feel whole, calm, and centered.
Schools across Newport County are invited to participate with their students, and local public libraries are invited to have materials available for their youth and teen visitors. Materials will also be available for pick up at the Newport Art Museum.
