FUNDA FEST 28: A Celebration of Black Storytelling

January 17, 2026 11:30 am

We are thrilled to be hosting a morning of storytelling in partnership with the RI Black Storytellers during the 28th annual FUNDA FEST Celebration!

During Funda Fest, Rhode Island Black Storytellers (RIBS) highlight an oral art form from African and African descended people from around the world. During this special week long event, RIBS share these oral traditions with communities across the state. The result is a highly participatory and educational performance suitable for all ages. We cannot wait for you to experience it for yourselves!

This year’s Funda theme is “Drumming Up Freedom”! As attendees listen to the storytelling, they will be invited to engage in a related art-making activity in the gallery.

*This is a FREE event suitable for all ages.
