Artist Day at Newport Art Museum
Practice figure drawing with artist William Heydt!
June 27, 2026 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Griswold House
Join us for our final Artist Day at the Newport Art Museum for live drawing led by artist William Heydt! William Heydt is a portrait painter who has run the RI Open Drawing Sessions for the last twenty-two years. With no formal instruction on the process, artists at all levels of experience are welcome to interpret the session in their own voice.
Meet on the Griswold lawn for a live drawing session in collaboration with Rhode Island Open Drawing, with easels, drawing pads, and charcoal provided for artists by William Heydt. A model will be present with a variety of costumes and poses to challenge and inspire artists, and participants are welcome to draw a pose, and take their drawings at the end of the cycle.
Artist Days are informal art-making sessions organized by the Museum and hosted by community artists. Please note that these are not formal classes, but an opportunity for artists to engage and create together leading up to Wet Paint.
Artists should provide their own additional materials. All mediums are welcome! Attending an Artist Day is not required to participate in Wet Paint- we gladly welcome all donations!
Artists attending this event must be 18+. Artists are welcome to park at the Museum, but as parking may be limited, other forms of transport are encouraged.
Special thanks to our Exclusive Sponsor, Arnold Art!
