Wet Paint

Our Wet Paint event brings together artists, collectors and community to celebrate Art and the Art Museum.

August 17, 2019 Cushing Gallery & Museum Grounds

It’s time to get your paints, brushes, pastels, canvases and cameras ready for another annual Silent & Live Wet Paint Auction.

This year, artists will have an entire week to create a one-of-a-kind artwork in the medium of their choice (including Raku-fired ceramics). We’ve built in more time to make work in order to make sure you catch good weather. Artists can deliver their artworks to the Museum during open public hours throughout the week prior to the Saturday, August 17th auctions. Museum staff will be on hand to give ‘fresh’ artwork an official “Wet Paint” stamp.

This year, bidders will have one day, and ONE DAY ONLY, (Saturday, August 17) to place their bids at the Silent and Live Auctions. Silent bidding opens at 4pm on August 17th, Live Auction begins at 6pm sharp, the Young Artists’ Art bidding closes at 7:30pm, and Silent bidding continues until 8:45pm / 9pm.

The Wet Paint Auction day is FREE. There will be nibbles complements of La Forge Casino Restaurant and Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling, cash bars, and much more.

We would like to recognize and thank our Lead Sponsor, the Bazarsky Family Foundation, for their generous support of Wet Paint 2019. We are also grateful for the support of our Platinum Sponsor Lila Delman Real Estate. We’d like to thank our generous In-Kind donors La Forge Casino Restaurant, Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling and Allen’s Wine & Spirits.

All proceeds from the event support the mission of the Newport Art Museum.
