Dive into the world of ceramics with this hands-on, six-week course focused on mastering the potter’s wheel. Designed for beginners, this class will guide you through the essential processes of wheel throwing, from preparing clay through wedging, to shaping, trimming, glazing, and firing.
Students will learn the core techniques for creating functional and decorative pottery, with a focus on developing proper studio practices. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the unique challenges of working on the wheel while developing your own creative style in a welcoming, supportive studio environment.
Please note this class is designed for beginners and adults only.
Location and Parking
Newport Art Museum classes are held in the Museum School at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies, at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
