Summer Art Camp: Clay Camp Teen Pottery Wheel (Ages 13-16)

Have you ever wondered how to use the pottery wheel? Learn how to relax, slow down and center clay, exploring the process of throwing. Campers will finish the week by using colorful glazing techniques to finish their work. Student work will be ready for pick up the following week to allow for firing in the kiln. Ages 13-16.

 

About the Teaching Artist:

Charlene has been a member of the Newport Art Museum’s faculty since 2003! She loves sharing the joy and creativity that others have instilled in her with her students. Her career is multi-faceted: as an artist, her work ranges from the sculptural to the functional. As an educator, she works with a diverse group of students ranging in age from 4 to 90 and who come from myriad backgrounds. As the Museum’s outreach teacher, Charlene works with psychiatric and behavioral needs students from the Bradley Schools. She is also responsible for the management of the Clay room in the museum school. Charlene also received the Pell award for excellence in art in 2016!

Location and Parking

Newport Art Museum School camps are held in the Museum's School located at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
