Join us at the Newport Art Museum School as we experiment with analog and digital collage, juxtaposing different mediums, techniques, materials, and textures. We will consider for inspiration the collage practices of various artists, including Romare Bearden, Henri Matisse, Barbara Kruger, and Lorna Simpson, plus relevant artists represented in the Newport Art Museum collections. The class is open to all skill levels and will be conducted as an open studio with students working individually at their own pace with guidance from the instructor. We will explore themes such as memory, place, current events, and home. Students are encouraged to bring in their own materials: photographs, snippets from magazines, computer printouts, cards, posters, drawings, etc.
Please note this class is designed for adults only. No class on Wednesday, November 27.
