Creating Embossing Tools Demo

Christine Herron
During this demo, Christine will show students how to create both large and small texture plates. These plates can be added to all types of clay objects and utilized in many applications, including functional and sculptural work. The teaching artist will review her design approach, material choices, and durability when creating texture plates.
Students will be provided with a list of materials and an outline of her process for reference following the demo.

Christine Herron has been designing original, handmade products for Red Chair Studio for over thirty years. Trained in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design, she is known for her vibrant use of color and love of the natural world. Her work spans hand-painted garden products, fiber-dyed silk, jewelry, and hand-built clay vessels.
Currently, she focuses on functional pottery and porcelain jewelry and teaches painting and pottery classes. Christine’s work is colorful, quirky and reflecting her love of nature and all things floral.
Location and Parking
Newport Art Museum classes are held in the Museum School at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies, at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
