Botanical Silk Printing Workshop

Teaching Artist: Diane Harrison

In this hands-on 3.5-hour workshop, students will join Rhode Island Textile artist, Diane Harrison to learn the basics of botanical printing on fabric. Learn how to transfer pigments from flowers and foliage onto silk fabric to reveal their beautiful colors, textures, and patterns. Students will each print a luxurious, silk charmeuse scarf.
This workshop will give students the knowledge to continue experimenting with botanical printing on fabric or garments on their own.
No previous experience is necessary. All materials will be provided. Please dress in clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy.

Location and parking

Newport Art Museum classes are held in the Museum's School located at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our Museum parking lots or along Liberty Street.
