Beginner Crochet: Balaclava

Teaching Artist: Keelin Maloney

During this 6 week course, beginners will become proficient in several crochet skills. Students will learn double, single and half double crochet, pattern reading and writing, finishing techniques and will walk away with a beautiful customized balaclava! After this course students will have the confidence to read crochet patterns and create pieces from their own imagination. This class is perfect if you have never picked up a crochet hook!

Supplies to bring:

  • Medium to Heavy weight yarn
  • 6mm crochet hook

Please note this class is designed for ages 16+.

About Teaching Artist:

Keelin Maloney is a Providence native and textile lover. She has a background in hand knitting, machine knitting, weaving and natural dyeing. Her years in fine art school have lead her to create knit collections and participate in local sustainable fashion projects.

Newport Art Museum classes are held in the Museum School at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies, at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
