Founded in 1912, the Newport Art Museum is one of the oldest continuously operating and most highly regarded art museums and schools of its kind in the country.
The Newport Art Museum’s collection consists of approximately 3,000 works of art in a range of media including works on paper (prints, drawings, watercolors, and photographs), paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, installation works, and textiles and is expanding to include new media. Concentrated on American art and contemporary art, the Museum’s collection includes works of art from the 18th century to present.

Join friends of the Newport Art Museum, Artist Karen Roarke & Design House for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and collaborative conversation at the Design House showroom on Friday, March 22nd at 6 pm. We invite you to an evening of art and interior design as you tour Design House’s showroom and view the many works of Karen Roarke. Whether you are looking for a new piece of original artwork, a new home design, or new friends – this is the event for you. We will discuss the process of investing in original artwork and incorporating it into your home and how to curate your ideal space through interior design. All ticket proceeds benefit the Newport Art Museum.
Design House Interiors is a full-service interior design firm with dedicated professionals working with clients to create beautiful and functional designs. Providing a full range of interior design and renovation services, we work with a select team of architects, builders, skilled contractors and creative craftspeople. We manage projects from start to finish creating a personalized and unique design scheme, whether it be for a single room or the entire home.
Karen Roarke Karen Roarke grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. After graduating from Boston College in 1984 where she majored in Studio Art, Karen moved to the beaches of Southern California. In 1988 she earned a Master of Art degree in Drawing & Painting from California State University, Fullerton. Continuing her studies at The Claremont Graduate University, Roarke received a Master of Fine Art degree in January 1990. In 1994 she moved from downtown Los Angeles to New York City and three years later settled near the ocean in Middletown, Rhode Island. Roarke taught visual arts and served as Director of the Hunter Gallery at St. George’s School from 2013-2019. Roarke’s work, exhibited locally and internationally for over 30 years, is included in the collections of Fidelity Investments, Nestlé Corporation, KVH Industries and Tokai Bank and in numerous private collections.
