The Christopher Hyland Photography Collection at the Newport Art Museum invites viewers into the visionary worlds of some of the 20th century’s most influential photographers.
Through A Collector’s Lens: Iconic Photography from the Christopher Hyland Collection features works by Edward Steichen, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Shelby Lee Adams, Sally Mann, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Mapplethorpe, André Kertész, and others, each offering a distinct vision of life’s fleeting moments.

Christopher Hyland is a New York-based designer, entrepreneur, and civic leader with a background in international relations and design. A Georgetown graduate, he also studied at Harvard and the Episcopal Divinity School. He founded Christopher Hyland, Inc., a leading home furnishings company, and has long championed global causes from peace efforts to economic development.
An avid traveler, sailor, and photographer, Hyland holds honorary doctorates in Humanities and Economics. His acclaimed photography collection, Through a Collector’s Lens, will be on view at the Newport Art Museum from June 21 to September 8, 2025, featuring works by icons like Cartier-Bresson, Mapplethorpe, and many more.
