Jerusalem-born Eran Fraenkel is a self-taught artist who moved to Providence in 2016 after 22 years of living and working in Macedonia, Brussels, Indonesia and Spain. His art reflects the cultural and visual environments in which he was working at the time. Since Covid, Eran has been exploring his mother’s family’s Iranian heritage by learning Farsi and by creating an extensive series of images called Persianesque. These paintings/drawings are intended to pay tribute to Persian art, but with a personal interpretation by the artist.
