Portraits: A Window and a Mirror

Lebanese born photographer Rania Matar began documenting Syrian and Lebanese refugee children in her native Beirut in 2014. Through this intimate portrait, which feels both foreign and familiar, students learn to empathize with the real world experiences of others by making the human toll of current global political unrest visible, encouraging tolerance and understanding.
