Join us in an exploration into the world of puppetry! Unleash your creativity as we delve into the art of using puppets to bring your wildest ideas to vivid life. This dynamic class will ignite your imagination by experimenting with various materials to craft and perform captivating characters. Learn how the fusion of sculptural art, acting, and collaborative storytelling can transform even the most basic or recycled materials into dynamic puppetry creations! Open to ages 13-16, this experience promises to be an unforgettable journey into the realm of imaginative expression.

 

About the Teaching Artist:

Gwen Caponigro is an illustrator, designer, and puppeteer currently based in Providence, and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work explores fantasy and fairytales with contemporary perspectives and a healthy dose of whimsy. She has worked in both children’s publishing and theatrical productions, and loves that puppets allow her to bridge her art practice with her love of theatre.

Location and Parking

Newport Art Museum School camps are held in the Museum's School located at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
