In this 6-week in-depth watercolor course, we will embark on an artistic journey to explore various watercolor surface studies, focusing on the possibilities of color blending and compositional design. This course is designed to build your confidence with watercolor media, sharpen your technical skills, and help you develop a unique creative voice as an artist.
Whether you’re returning to watercolor or refining your existing skills, this course provides the guidance you need to grow your artistic practice and bring your visions to life on paper. By the end of this course, you’ll have mastered a variety of watercolor techniques, learned to create dynamic compositions, and discovered how to approach your paintings with newfound confidence. Please note this course is recommended for students with previous watercolor experience or those who have taken introductory watercolor classes.
About your teaching artist:
Bill, no stranger to Newport, has been teaching watercolor classes and plein air workshops for several years now. He has won several awards including his latest at the 2024 Guild of Boston Artists Regional Show where he was awarded the New England Watercolor Society Award. He is a Signature Artist Member of the New England Watercolor Society and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, an Exhibiting Artist member at the Providence Art Club and a Juried Artist Member at the Rockport Art Association & Museum(RAAM).

Location and Parking
Newport Art Museum classes are held in the Museum School at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies, at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
