January 9, 2025 - February 27, 2025
8 sessions
Thursdays 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Teaching Artist:
Charlene Carpenzano
This independent ceramics study is designed for advanced students who are ready to refine their skills through self-directed learning. The course will emphasize essential hand-building techniques such as coiling, slab construction, and surface decoration, while also integrating advanced potter’s wheel techniques to ensure a well-rounded practice.
Throughout the course, students will develop a thesis-like project, exploring a theme or concept of their choice, and drawing inspiration from the works of famous ceramicists. While the majority of the class time will be devoted to independent studio work, there will be partial instructor assistance during select sessions for focused feedback, guidance, and support on individual projects.
Studio hours will be provided to ensure ample time for students to practice, experiment, and advance their work. This course is offered to students with prior experience who are looking to push their boundaries and deepen their artistic practice.
