Experimental Collage

May 1, 2024 - June 5, 2024

6 sessions

Wednesdays 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Taught by Annabel Manning

Join us at the Newport Art Museum School as we experiment with (analog) collage, juxtaposing different mediums, techniques, materials, and textures. We will consider for inspiration the collage practices of various artists, including Romare Bearden, Henri Matisse, Barbara Kruger, and Lorna Simpson, plus relevant artists represented in the Newport Art Museum collections. The class is open to all skill levels and will be conducted as an open studio with students working individually at their own pace with guidance from the instructor. We will explore themes such as memory, place, current events, and home. Students are encouraged to bring in their own materials: photographs, snippets from magazines, computer printouts, cards, posters, drawings, etc.

Adults only.

Location and Parking
Our School is located at 26 Liberty Street. Museum School students and visitors may park in the museum lots in front and back of Griswold house, or on Liberty Street. Cars parked in the other lots risk being ticketed.
