Spend your summer immersed in clay, creativity, and self-discovery. This advanced ceramics course is designed for experienced students ready to refine their craft through self-directed exploration and hands-on studio practice.
Set in a relaxed but focused summer studio environment, the course emphasizes advanced hand-building techniques such as coiling, slab construction, and surface design, alongside in-depth work on the potter’s wheel. Whether you’re drawn to sculptural forms or refined functional ware, this course invites you to expand your skills and artistic voice.
Students will embark on a personal, thesis-style project centered around a theme or concept of their choosing, drawing inspiration from master ceramicists and contemporary influences. While the majority of time is dedicated to independent work, select sessions will include instructor guidance for feedback, technique refinement, and one-on-one support.
Open studio hours throughout the summer ensure plenty of time to create, experiment, and grow. This course is ideal for motivated ceramic artists looking to deepen their practice in a supportive, sunlit space designed for focus and flow.
Prerequisite:
This course is offered to students with prior experience in ceramics and advanced knowledge of wheel throwing. A strong foundation in hand-building and surface treatments is also recommended.
