Scratching the Surface (FULL)

September 10, 2025 - October 15, 2025

6 sessions

Wednesday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Teaching Artist: Charlene Carpenzano

In this course for advanced ceramic students, participants will explore creative approaches to surface design using transfer techniques. The first session will be dedicated to independent studio time, allowing students to create forms that will serve as the foundation for surface experimentation.

Over the following four weeks, students will:

  • Learn to apply commercially made transfers to leather-hard and bisqueware surfaces.
  • Experiment with colored slips to enhance transfer imagery and surface depth.
  • Design and create custom underglaze or slip transfers.

The final class will be devoted to independent glazing and finishing of the work produced throughout the course.

This class is intended for returning students or those with equivalent ceramic experience.
