NEWPORT, RI – The Newport Art Museum (NAM) is thrilled to announce its upcoming 2025 season, which will feature a dynamic lineup of guest curators and voices. As part of its ongoing commitment to bringing fresh and diverse perspectives to its exhibitions, NAM will host renowned artists, curators, art historians, and collectors.“We are excited to share our upcoming exhibitions and programs with our members, visitors, and the broader community,” said Executive Director Danielle Ogden. “The Newport Art Museum has long been a place of creativity, connection, and expression, and this season is no exception. We’re proud to offer our audiences the opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives through the work of our talented guest curators, thought leaders, and cultural innovators.”

This season’s programming was developed to reflect a wide array of artistic and curatorial approaches in pursuit of providing an engaging and thought-provoking experience for all visitors.

“Newport Art Museum has been a cultural hub in our city for more than a century, and there is so much more to come as we not only display our own impressive collection focusing on 19th-century art to today but also present new work and highlight new voices,” said Ellie Harrison Voorhes, president of the Board of Trustees.

In the coming months, NAM will invite guest curators to collaborate with museum staff on new shows and to provide interpretive content for our current exhibitions and permanent collection, offering new and recontextualized insights. Highlights of the upcoming schedule, with dates to follow, include:

  • Donna Bassin art therapist, clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst, filmmaker, and fine art photographer, will present an installation focused on landscapes, environment, healing, and repair. In addition, Bassin will curate an exhibition featuring items from NAM’s 19th and 20th-century collections alongside recent acquisitions.
  • Ricardo Ruiz, Charles H. Sawyer Curatorial Fellow at the Addison Gallery of American Art, will curate an exhibition centered on Howard Gardiner Cushing, whose works are part of NAM’s extensive American Impressionist collection with the Newport Art Museum’s Annual Summer Art Gala.
  • Marie Samuels and Sam Bolton from Newport Curates will collaborate on exhibitions launching in the summer of 2025, continuing NAM’s tradition of showcasing local talent.
The Newport Art Museum looks forward to welcoming visitors to these exciting exhibitions and events in the months ahead. For more information and to receive updates on the museum’s schedule of events, visit www.NewportArtMuseum.org.
