28th Annual Wet Paint

Art | Artists | Auction

August 14, 2021 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

On Saturday, August 14, the Newport Art Museum’s campus will once again be transformed into the largest and most inclusive outdoor gallery in Rhode Island. Artists of every age and experience level are welcome to submit an original artwork to our silent auction. This year all artists will be ‘under the tent’ with an equal opportunity to attract the attention of devoted collectors. Your art may end up in an important collection!

All Wet Paint submissions (two piece limit per artist please) must be brought to the Art Museum between August 7 and 13 and participating artist registration is required – please see registration link and artwork drop-off hours below. If you create your masterpiece anytime between August 7 and August 13, you’ll receive an official Wet Paint stamp on your submission, noting that your piece was made in the spirit of “Wet Paint,” i.e., made the day of the event.

Participating artists can decide to donate all proceeds from the sale of their piece to the Newport Art Museum, which will help support the Museum’s exhibitions, acquisitions and collection care, or opt to receive a percentage of the sale price. Please note: This applies to adult artwork that sells for $150 or more.

Bidder Information:

Wet Paint is a wonderful opportunity to support our Museum AND take home an original piece of artwork. All proceeds benefit the Museum’s exhibitions, acquisitions and collection care. Save time by registering to be a bidder online in advance, or visit the Registration table the night of the event.

Artist Information:

Wet Paint wouldn’t be possible without the hundreds of artists who so generously donate their time and talent to support our Museum. Thank you! Artists may submit up to TWO artworks in any medium. In the spirit of “Wet Paint”, we encourage you to submit art created “en plein air” or your most recent work. When you register as an artist, you may choose to donate 100% of the sales of your work or 80%, keeping 20% for yourself. (Please note this applies to adult artwork that sells for $150 or more.)

Artwork Drop-off:

We thank all of the artists who submitted artworks to our Wet Paint auction and the individuals who are bidding. All proceeds benefit the artists and the Art Museum. We congratulate all the winning bidders and hope they’ll enjoy their Wet Paint “masterpieces.” And we hope everyone will honor the true spirit of Wet Paint and refrain from profiting from the resale of Wet Paint art.
