Throwing Thursdays (Register by December 30)

Come join us and enjoy the process of throwing, shaping and trimming pots on the wheel. We will learn how to center clay on the potter’s wheel and progress to trimming, handles, decorative techniques, and glazing. This class is for the beginner as well as the intermediate student. All levels are welcome.

About the instructor
Charlene Carpenzano received her BA, Cum Laude, in Art Education and Psychology at Rhode Island College. She continued her studies as a student in RISD’s Continuing Education Program and is a 2016 Pell Award recipient. In 2000 She co- founded Domus Luti, a pottery co-op in Pawtucket, RI.

As a member of the Newport Art Museum’s faculty since 2003, Charlene shares with her students the joy and creativity that others have instilled in her. Her career is multi-faceted: as an artist, her work ranges from the sculptural to the functional. As an educator, she works with a diverse group of students ranging in age from 4 to 90 and who come from myriad backgrounds. As the Museum’s outreach teacher, Charlene works with psychiatric and behavioral needs students from the Bradley Schools. Charlene is a member of National Council for Educators of the Ceramic Arts.

Location and Parking
Our School is located at 26 Liberty Street. Museum School students and visitors may park in the museum lots in front and back of Griswold house, or on Liberty Street. Cars parked in the other lots risk being ticketed.
