Bottoms Up! (Register by May 18)

In this three week class students will concentrated on flipping their pots over and looking closely at the foot of their vessels. Students will learn to throw bottomless pots, trim tri-footed vessels and learn fine finishing techniques.

Location and Parking
Newport Art Museum School classes are held in the Coleman Center, located at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots.

About the instructor
Charlene Carpenzano received her BA, Cum Laude, in Art Education and Psychology at Rhode Island College. She continued her studies as a student in RISD’s Continuing Education Program and is a 2016 Pell Award recipient. In 2000 She co- founded Domus Luti, a pottery co-op in Pawtucket, RI.

As a member of the Newport Art Museum’s faculty since 2003, Charlene shares with her students the joy and creativity that others have instilled in her. Her career is multi-faceted: as an artist, her work ranges from the sculptural to the functional. As an educator, she works with a diverse group of students ranging in age from 4 to 90 and who come from myriad backgrounds. As the Museum’s outreach teacher, Charlene works with psychiatric and behavioral needs students from the Bradley Schools. Charlene is a member of National Council for Educators of the Ceramic Arts.
