Islamic Tile Motif Workshop

Join us to learn more about the principles of geometric design that are the basis for the beautiful and intricate patterns in the art of the Islamic world. Study the real tile styles which adorn  various religious landmarks and sites standing today and try your hand at recreating them with Amale’s guidance.

 

In this two part workshop, students will use protractors, tracing paper, pencils, and watercolors.

 

About the Teaching Artist:

Amale Chamseddine is a Rhode Island based artist and designer with family roots from Lebanon. Amale has always found inspiration in patterns and floral motifs, which led her to start studying Illumination Art and Ottoman Patterns. Amale is passionate about sharing with the Rhode Island community an artform deeply influenced by nature, religion, and a rich culture.

Location and Parking

Newport Art Museum School camps are held in the Museum's School located at the Coleman Center for Creative Studies at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots or on Liberty Street.
