Exploration in Encaustics (Register by May 12)

Come explore the world of encaustic art making. Learn more about this ancient process of wax painting. Develop new techniques and enhance current works through your new found skills.

Supplies provided
The instructor will provide a heat source, oil pastels, resin, powdered pigment, base wax, vegetable oil, muffin tin with colored waxes, and some brushes

Supplies to bring
Students may bring original photographs, paper, and their own natural hair brushes if they wish. *Please Note once a brush is used to be an encaustic brush, it will always be an encaustic brush. Please bring a sketchbook, and please buy three gesso boards, one 5×7 and two 9×12″

Location and Parking
Newport Art Museum School classes are held in the Coleman Center, located at 26 Liberty Street. Please park in our museum parking lots.
