NEWPORT, RI: The Newport Art Museum's popular public art event, Wet Paint, returns for its 18th year on Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22, presented by WILLIAM VAREIKA FINE ARTS, LTD. "Still wet" artworks created by hundreds of regional artists on Saturday will be on view for silent bidding from 6 - 8pm that evening during a Preview Reception at the Newport Art Museum, and on Sunday from 12 - 3pm. A Live Auction with auctioneer Mike Corcoran begins Sunday at 4pm. Proceeds benefit the Museum's extensive education, exhibition and community outreach programs. Join in the fun as an artist, spectator, bidder or all three! Artists can pre-register online or download a pre-registration form at www.NewportArtMuseum.org. Reception price: Members $10; non-members $15. The Museum will be open free of charge Saturday, 10am - 5pm. No charge to attend the Live Auction on Sunday. Wet Paint 2010 is supported by Art New England and the Norman Bird Sanctuary Bird Ball (August 21.)
About the Newport Art Museum: The Newport Art Museum's collections and exhibitions focus on the visual artists of Newport and southeastern New England, reflecting both the rich heritage of the past and the lively art scene of the present. The Museum also offers art classes and camps, concerts, talks, trips, and special events throughout the year.
