Darrell West to assess Obama Administration

Newport Art Museum 83rd Winter Lecture Series Saturday, January 9, 2010 - 2pm
NEWPORT, RI: Darrell West returns to Rhode Island on January 9 to launch the 2010 Newport Art Museum Winter Lecture Series. West will offer an assessment of the Obama administration in his lecture entitled "Politics of the Times." An expert on public policy, West is the Vice President and Director of Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. His talk begins at 2 pm in the Museum's Griswold House at 76 Bellevue Avenue. A tea reception follows. Cost is $10 for Newport Art Museum members; $15 for non-members. Attendees who sign up for the entire lecture series receive reserved seating. Inclement weather cancellations will be announced on WADK 1540 and Newport Art Museum on Facebook.
West is a familiar face in Rhode Island. Prior to his tenure at the Brookings Institution, he was the John Hazen White Professor of Political Science and Public Policy and Director of the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University. He has authored fifteen books dealing with elections, media, technology and public policymaking. This is the fifth year in a row that West has offered his political commentary during the Newport Art Museum's Winter Lecture Series.
