All of us at the Coleman Center look forward to spring when the warming weather seems to inspire new creative expression. The Newport Art Museum’s Coleman Center for Creative Studies is offering a broad selection of art classes this season that we know will inspire you to enjoy the beauty of Aquidneck Island, to learn its art and architectural history, and to explore your own creativity in the hands-on making of art. In this issue we also include a preview schedule of our summer camps and workshops. Classes fill quickly! We encourage you to register early. Receive a 10% tuition discount if you register two-weeks prior to the class start date. Visiting Artist Workshops, the Mandala class and studio/material fees are excluded from the discount. We also encourage you to become a member of the Museum. As a member, you are eligible to receive 15% to 20% discounts on class fees, lectures and concerts as well as free admission to the Museum’s exhibitions and members’ receptions. By becoming a member, you also become a part of Newport history and an active participant in the Museum’s future. After reading the catalog, please let us help you select the right course for you. Call us at 848-ARTS with any and all questions. We look forward to seeing you in our classroom studios! Judy Hambleton A Message from the Executive Director: Enroll early! Everyone benefits! The Coleman Center needs your help and cooperation in registering for classes, camps and workshops! Many students wait to register until the week a class begins. Some students register the first day of class and are disappointed to learn that the class has been cancelled due to under-enrollment. That student isn’t the only person disappointed. The instructor and the other students are all affected when the school is forced to cancel a class. Please help us by registering at least two weeks before the start date of any class. By doing so, you will save 10% on your tuition and you will ensure that classes aren’t cancelled at the last minute. You will be giving faculty and staff adequate time for scheduling, planning, and purchasing of materials and supplies and you will also be showing consideration to your fellow students. Our goal is to make our classes, camps and workshops as dynamic, engaging and inspirational as possible for you. Please speak with a member of our education staff if you would like help in selecting the best class. With best regards,
